National Space Plan 2026 – 2032

The Government of the Czech Republic approved the new National Space Plan for 2026-2032 on 22 October 2025. The new National Space Plan (NSP) is the fourth in the series and follows the Evaluation Report of the National Space Plan 2020-2025, which was submitted to the Government on 25 June 2025.

The National Space Plan is the Government’s overarching strategic document in the field of space activities. It sets out the vision and objectives for the further development of the Czech space sector and identifies the main instruments for achieving them. The essence of the document is captured by the following statement, which also serves as the motto of the National Space Plan:

“The Czech Republic is an active and internationally recognized player in space activities, an internationally successful manufacturer, supplier and user of space technologies, applications and systems, fully capable of leveraging their potential for the development of the Czech economy, society, security and defence.”

The document comprehensively addresses the development of the Czech space sector’s capabilities, including both industry and academia. It defines strategic directions for the development of promising areas and technologies, such as the development of satellites weighing up to 500 kg, space-based solar power, and platforms for satellite data processing and their practical application.

The proposed measures also focus on the supporting space ecosystem, including education, technology incubation, technology transfer, the implementation of the Czech astronaut mission, and activities aimed at raising awareness of the benefits of space activities and their importance for the Czech Republic.

Another priority area is the institutionalization of space activities in the Czech Republic. This includes the planned transformation of the Aeronautical Research and Test Institute (VZLÚ) to better utilize its potential in support of space activities, aviation, and the defence industry.

As with previous plans, an interim evaluation of the implementation of the National Space Plan will be conducted after three years, followed by a final evaluation at the end of the implementation period in 2032. Reports on both evaluations will be submitted to the Government.
